Hi, I’m Oakley Ann Roberts. I am a former Re/Max agent that came to the conclusion that my philosophy of real estate service no longer fit into the traditional real estate corporation. As I considered the changes that technology and the Internet have had on the practice of real estate and how these changes have affected the cost of serving clients I concluded that the traditional commission structure was no longer justified. This was never more true than in the current economic climate where home owners have lost equity and perhaps a job. And so, I have begun Equity-Max Realty with the purpose of passing along to sellers, the savings that can be found by utilizing new technologies. I have always used a systems approach to work efficiently so, new on-line transaction management and electronic communication only enhances my ability to serve my clients. Thus, I am able to focus on providing expertise in areas that sellers and buyers do not have such as competitive home pricing, assessing the merits of a transaction, and negotiation. The true art of the profession is not in the processing of tasks but in the making of the deal. I don’t consider myself a “discount” broker because I provide the same level of service I did as a member of a corporate real estate company. I just no longer fund the corporate machine so my savings can be past to my clients. In my prior life, in my home state of Virginia, I was involved in the architecture and construction industry, first as a manager and marketing director of an architurecture firm and later I became a general contractor to create a design/build firm. |
